The In Between

It's that time of year when summer is still hanging around but signs of fall are also sneaking in. You can see sceneries of limbo like this today in Quebec's Gatineau Park. During one early walk in the park in August, I had anticipated that it was only going to be a walk on dry paths. But the more I walked deeper into the forest the louder the sound of a waterfall became more apparent. I followed the sounds of the fallen water and found the multi-layer waterfall amongst the trees and already-decaying orange leaves. The colours haven't officially started changing in Gatineau Park, at least not enough for the park to declare that the official change has started, but you can't deny the process has at least started by the presence of the brown and orange leaves that have fallen on the ground.
